    Addmotor M-368X Review: Is This Full-Suspension Electric Trike Really Built for Long-Distance Comfort?

    Electric tricycles are often marketed around the same familiar advantages: three-wheel stability, electric assistance, cargo capacity, and a more accessible riding experience. However, these features alone do not necessarily make an electric trike comfortable for longer rides.

    Comfort becomes more complicated after the first few miles. Road vibration begins to travel through the frame, pressure builds around the lower back and hips, and small bumps become more noticeable. On a traditional electric trike, the rigid rear axle can make uneven roads feel especially harsh because both rear wheels react independently to changes in the surface.

    The Addmotor M-368X approaches this problem differently. Rather than treating comfort as a matter of adding a larger seat, it combines a semi-recumbent riding position, full suspension, wide tires, electric assistance, and an adjustable frame layout.

    But do these features actually improve the riding experience, or do they simply make the specification sheet look more impressive?

    This review takes a closer look at how the Addmotor M-368X is designed and what its features may mean in real-world riding.

    A Semi-Recumbent Riding Position Changes the Experience

    The first noticeable difference between the M-368X and a conventional upright electric tricycle is the seating position.

    Instead of placing the rider directly above the pedals, the M-368X uses a forward-pedaling, semi-recumbent layout. The rider sits lower and farther behind the crank, with the legs extending forward during each pedal stroke.

    This changes how body weight is distributed.

    On a traditional bicycle saddle, much of the rider’s weight is concentrated on a relatively small contact area. During longer rides, this can create pressure and discomfort. The M-368X uses a wider saddle with back support, allowing more of the rider’s weight to be distributed across the seat and lower back.

    The backrest also provides support when accelerating or climbing with electric assistance. Instead of relying entirely on the handlebars to stabilize the upper body, riders can maintain a more relaxed seated position.

    For riders who prefer a less aggressive posture, this design may reduce the need to lean forward for extended periods. It can also make the trike feel more like a comfortable mobility-oriented vehicle rather than a traditional bicycle with an extra wheel.

    However, the semi-recumbent position may require a short adjustment period. Riders accustomed to upright bicycles may initially find the forward pedal placement unfamiliar. After adapting, many may appreciate the more relaxed posture, especially during longer recreational rides.

    Why Full Suspension Matters More on an Electric Trike

    Suspension is common on mountain bikes and increasingly common on commuter e-bikes, but full suspension remains relatively unusual among electric tricycles.

    The Addmotor M-368X includes suspension at both the front and rear. This is important because a three-wheel vehicle interacts with the road differently from a two-wheel bicycle.

    A bicycle has two contact points with the ground. An electric trike has three. When one rear wheel passes over a crack, pothole, or raised section of pavement, the movement can travel through the rear structure and into the rider’s seat.

    On a rigid electric tricycle, this effect may become noticeable on older streets, uneven sidewalks, gravel paths, and poorly maintained bike lanes.

    The rear suspension system on the M-368X is designed to help absorb some of these impacts before they reach the rider. Meanwhile, the front suspension fork reduces vibration and shock transmitted through the handlebars.

    The result is not necessarily a mountain-bike experience. The M-368X is still a large electric trike designed primarily for comfort, stability, and practical riding rather than aggressive off-road use.

    However, full suspension may make a meaningful difference on everyday surfaces that are less smooth than they appear.

    Expansion joints, driveway entrances, patched asphalt, small potholes, and broken pavement can become tiring during a long ride. Suspension helps reduce the cumulative effect of these repeated impacts.

    Wide Tires Add Another Layer of Cushioning

    The M-368X uses wide tires that contribute to both stability and ride comfort.

    Wide tires contain a larger volume of air than narrow bicycle tires. When properly inflated, they can absorb smaller road imperfections before the suspension system even begins to move.

    This creates a layered approach to comfort:

    The tires handle smaller vibrations and surface texture, while the suspension system manages larger impacts and changes in terrain.

    The wider contact patch may also improve traction on loose or inconsistent surfaces, including packed gravel, dry dirt paths, grass, and uneven pavement.

    For an electric trike, tire width can also influence the rider’s sense of stability. A wider footprint may make the vehicle feel more planted, particularly at lower speeds.

    There is a tradeoff. Wider tires generally create more rolling resistance than narrow commuter tires. However, electric assistance helps compensate for the additional effort, making it possible to prioritize comfort and traction without requiring the rider to provide all the extra power.

    The 750W Motor Is About More Than Speed

    The Addmotor M-368X is equipped with a 750W rear-mounted motor.

    For a large electric trike, motor power is not only about achieving a higher top speed. The motor must move a heavier three-wheel frame while potentially carrying a rider, personal belongings, groceries, or other cargo.

    Low-speed assistance is particularly important.

    Starting from a complete stop can require more effort on a trike than on a lightweight bicycle. Electric assistance helps the M-368X accelerate without requiring the rider to apply maximum pressure to the pedals.

    This may be useful when starting at intersections, moving through parking areas, or restarting on a mild incline.

    The motor also helps maintain momentum when the trike is carrying additional weight. Rather than forcing the rider to rely entirely on leg strength, the electric system provides consistent support across different riding conditions.

    The M-368X should still be viewed as a comfort-focused electric trike rather than a high-speed performance machine. Three-wheel handling is different from bicycle handling, especially when turning. Controlled acceleration and appropriate cornering speeds remain important.

    A 48V 20Ah Battery for Longer Recreational Rides

    Battery capacity is another major consideration for riders interested in longer trips.

    The M-368X uses a 48V 20Ah battery, providing approximately 960 watt-hours of energy capacity.

    Addmotor lists a maximum estimated range of up to 85 miles under favorable conditions. As with all electric bikes and trikes, real-world range depends on several factors.

    Rider weight, cargo load, terrain, temperature, tire pressure, speed, wind conditions, and the selected pedal-assist level can all affect energy consumption.

    A rider using lower assistance levels on flat terrain may achieve significantly more range than someone relying heavily on electric power while climbing hills or carrying a heavier load.

    Even when the maximum advertised figure is not reached, a 960Wh battery provides substantial capacity for commuting, errands, recreational riding, and longer weekend trips.

    The larger battery may also reduce range anxiety. Riders may not need to charge after every short trip, depending on how much assistance they use.

    Torque-Sensing Assistance Creates a More Natural Feel

    Motor power is only one part of an electric trike’s riding experience. The way the motor responds to the rider can be equally important.

    The M-368X uses a torque sensor to measure how much force the rider applies to the pedals.

    When the rider pedals lightly, the motor provides a more moderate level of assistance. When additional pressure is applied, the system can respond with stronger support.

    This differs from a basic cadence sensor, which mainly detects whether the pedals are rotating.

    Torque-sensing assistance can make acceleration feel more connected to the rider’s effort. Instead of the motor delivering power simply because the pedals are moving, assistance changes according to pedaling input.

    For a comfort-oriented electric trike, smoother power delivery may improve control at lower speeds. This can be useful when navigating crowded paths, parking areas, narrow turns, or other situations where sudden acceleration would be undesirable.

    The system also allows riders to remain involved in the riding process. The motor supports the rider rather than completely replacing pedaling effort.

    Stability Does Not Eliminate the Need for Careful Cornering

    One of the main reasons people choose an electric tricycle is the stability provided by three wheels.

    The M-368X does not require the same balancing process as a conventional bicycle when stopped. Riders can remain seated without placing a foot on the ground, which may make starting and stopping feel more manageable.

    However, stability at a standstill should not be confused with unlimited stability while turning.

    A bicycle naturally leans into a corner. A tricycle generally remains upright, which means turning forces are transferred differently through the frame and wheels.

    Riders should reduce speed before entering sharper turns and avoid sudden steering movements.

    The M-368X’s wide rear stance and low seating position may contribute to a more planted feeling, but riding technique remains important. Smooth steering and controlled cornering provide a safer and more comfortable experience than attempting to handle the trike like a two-wheel e-bike.

    Practical Comfort Is More Than a Soft Seat

    Many electric trikes advertise comfort by focusing almost entirely on saddle size.

    The M-368X takes a broader approach.

    Its comfort-oriented design combines several systems:

    • A semi-recumbent riding position
    • A wide saddle with back support
    • Front and rear suspension
    • Wide tires
    • Adjustable rider positioning
    • Torque-sensing electric assistance
    • A large-capacity battery

    Each feature addresses a different source of fatigue.

    The seat supports the rider’s body. The suspension reduces larger impacts. The tires absorb smaller vibrations. The motor reduces physical effort. The torque sensor creates smoother assistance, while the larger battery supports longer trips.

    No single feature guarantees comfort for every rider. Body proportions, riding habits, terrain, and personal preferences all affect the experience.

    However, combining these features may provide a more complete solution than relying on a large saddle alone.

    Who Is the Addmotor M-368X Designed For?

    The M-368X may appeal to riders who prioritize comfort and stability over compact size or lightweight handling.

    It could be suitable for:

    • Riders interested in longer recreational trips
    • People who prefer a supported seating position
    • Riders who find traditional bicycle saddles uncomfortable
    • Commuters traveling over uneven roads
    • Users who want electric assistance without giving up pedaling
    • Riders looking for a stable platform for errands and everyday transportation

    The trike’s larger dimensions should also be considered.

    Storage space, transportation, doorway width, and turning radius may be more important than they are with a standard bicycle. Potential owners should evaluate where the trike will be stored and how it will be transported before purchasing.

    Final Thoughts

    The Addmotor M-368X is not simply a conventional electric tricycle with a larger battery and wider tires.

    Its design focuses on how different components work together to improve comfort over longer distances.

    The semi-recumbent seating position changes how rider weight is supported. Full suspension helps isolate the rider from uneven surfaces. Wide tires add cushioning and traction, while the 750W motor reduces the effort required to move a larger three-wheel platform.

    The 48V 20Ah battery supports longer riding possibilities, and torque-sensing assistance creates a more responsive connection between pedaling effort and motor output.

    The M-368X will not be the ideal choice for riders who need a lightweight, compact e-bike or who regularly carry their vehicle upstairs. Its size and three-wheel design require more storage space and a different riding technique.

    For riders focused on stability, supported seating, smoother travel, and long-distance comfort, however, the Addmotor M-368X offers a thoughtful combination of features that goes beyond the basic electric trike formula.
