    Recumbent electric tricycles are becoming increasingly popular among riders who want more stability than a traditional two-wheel e-bike can provide. Their supportive seating, three-wheel platform, low step-through frame, and throttle assistance make them especially suitable for older adults, recreational riders, and people who prefer a more relaxed riding position.

    The Addmotor M-368X and sixthreezero Simple Glide are two notable options in this category. Both are equipped with a 750W rear-mounted motor, fat tires, a high-back seat, pedal assistance, and throttle control. However, the similarities become less significant once battery capacity, suspension, sensor technology, adjustability, and braking details are examined.

    The sixthreezero Simple Glide is primarily designed around convenience. It offers a folding frame, armrests, a footrest, quick assembly, and an optional rear hitch system. The Addmotor M-368X takes a different approach, focusing on longer range, a more advanced suspension system, adjustable ergonomics, and more clearly published performance specifications.

    For riders who need compact storage, the Simple Glide has an obvious advantage. For riders who want a more capable Electric Tricycle for frequent use, longer trips, and uneven roads, the Addmotor M-368X provides a stronger overall package.

    Motor Performance: The Same Rated Wattage Does Not Tell the Whole Story

    Both electric tricycles use a 750W rear-mounted motor. On the surface, this makes their power systems appear nearly identical. However, rated wattage only describes one part of motor performance.

    Addmotor publishes substantially more information about the M-368X drivetrain. Its motor can produce up to 1,400W of peak output and 90Nm of torque, while the electrical system includes a 25A controller. These specifications help buyers understand how the tricycle may perform during acceleration, uphill riding, loaded starts, and periods of high power demand.

    The Simple Glide product information confirms a 750W motor but does not clearly publish peak power, torque output, or controller amperage. This does not prove that the Simple Glide lacks sufficient power, but it makes direct performance evaluation more difficult.

    Another major difference is the pedal-assistance system.

    The M-368X uses a torque sensor and provides seven levels of pedal assistance. A torque sensor measures how much force the rider applies to the pedals and adjusts motor assistance accordingly. Light pedaling produces moderate support, while harder pedaling produces stronger support.

    This creates a more natural riding experience, particularly for riders who want exercise without giving up electric assistance.

    The Simple Glide provides five assistance levels and can also be operated using its throttle. However, its official specification information does not clearly identify the pedal-sensor type. Riders who mainly expect to use the throttle may not consider this a serious disadvantage, but riders who plan to pedal regularly may prefer the more responsive system used by the M-368X.

    Battery Capacity and Range

    Battery size is one of the clearest advantages of the Addmotor M-368X.

    The M-368X uses a Samsung 48V 20Ah battery. Multiplying voltage by amp-hour capacity produces approximately 960Wh of nominal energy. The battery is UL 2271 certified and uses a full-potting structure designed to protect internal cells and electrical components.

    The Simple Glide uses a 48V 15Ah battery, providing approximately 720Wh of nominal energy. It is also UL 2271 certified, which is an important safety feature.

    Based on nominal capacity, the M-368X battery stores approximately 33 percent more energy than the Simple Glide battery. Viewed from the opposite direction, the Simple Glide has approximately 25 percent less battery capacity than the M-368X.

    This difference is reflected in the manufacturers’ published range figures. Addmotor advertises up to approximately 85–90 miles under low-assistance conditions, while sixthreezero lists up to 50 miles for the Simple Glide.

    No electric tricycle will achieve its maximum advertised range in every situation. Throttle use, rider weight, cargo, hills, wind, temperature, tire pressure, speed, and assistance level can all affect real-world mileage.

    Even so, the larger battery provides the M-368X with a better foundation for long-distance riding. It can also be valuable for riders who frequently use higher assistance levels, because stronger motor assistance consumes more energy.

    The Simple Glide’s 50-mile maximum may be more than adequate for short neighborhood trips or occasional recreational rides. However, buyers who want to charge less frequently or complete longer routes will likely find the M-368X more practical.

    Suspension and Ride Comfort

    The Simple Glide offers a comfortable seating concept. Its high-back seat includes armrests, and its folding footrest allows riders to rest their feet while using throttle power. These features may be especially appealing to riders who want a chair-like experience.

    The M-368X does not use the same armrest-focused design, but it provides a more advanced overall ride-comfort platform.

    Its 20 × 4.0-inch fat tires are combined with an independent front suspension system offering 80mm of travel. A rear coil shock provides additional impact control at the back of the tricycle.

    Fat tires help reduce vibration from minor surface imperfections, but they cannot fully replace suspension. On cracked pavement, uneven paths, driveway transitions, and rough recreational trails, controlled suspension can reduce repeated impacts before they reach the rider.

    The M-368X also provides greater seating adjustability. Its seat cushion can slide forward or backward, while the backrest adjusts from approximately 90 degrees to 170 degrees. Riders can choose a more upright position for visibility or a more reclined position for relaxed cruising.

    An automotive-style sliding footrest further helps riders adjust the tricycle around their leg length.

    This adjustability is reflected in the published rider-height range. Addmotor lists the M-368X for riders from approximately 5’1″ to 6’7″, while the Simple Glide is listed for riders from approximately 5′ to 6’4″.

    The Simple Glide may have the more immediately familiar seat because of its armrests. However, the M-368X provides more ways to adjust the entire riding position.

    Frame Design and Storage Convenience

    The M-368X uses a one-piece 6061 aluminum alloy frame. Addmotor states that the main frame structure is produced from a continuous aluminum tube, helping reduce unnecessary weld points and distribute forces through the chassis.

    It also includes universal-joint steering and a rear differential. A differential allows the rear wheels to rotate at different speeds while turning, which can improve cornering behavior and reduce tire scrubbing.

    The Simple Glide’s biggest structural advantage is its folding frame. Riders with limited garage space or those who plan to transport their tricycle in an RV, van, or truck may consider this feature essential.

    The Simple Glide also arrives approximately 95 percent assembled, compared with approximately 85 percent for the M-368X. This can reduce initial setup time.

    For portability and convenience, the Simple Glide is the stronger choice. For structural integration, adjustable geometry, and long-distance ride performance, the M-368X is more convincing.

    Braking and Low-Speed Control

    Three-wheel vehicles require reliable braking because they are heavier and wider than standard bicycles.

    The Addmotor M-368X is equipped with a mechanical disc brake at each wheel. It also includes a parking brake, which is especially useful on an Electric Tricycle.

    A parking brake can keep the tricycle stationary while the rider gets on or off, loads cargo, pauses on an incline, or adjusts the seat. This may seem like a minor feature, but it can improve everyday usability and confidence.

    The Simple Glide lists front and rear mechanical disc brakes. However, its published specifications do not provide the same level of detail regarding individual braking at all three wheels or a dedicated parking-brake function.

    Addmotor also publishes a minimum turning radius of approximately two meters. Combined with the differential and universal-joint steering, this gives the M-368X a more thoroughly described steering and low-speed control system.

    Cargo Capacity and Practical Use

    The M-368X separates its weight ratings clearly. It supports a rider weighing up to 280 pounds and up to 100 pounds on the rear cargo structure, resulting in a total stated payload capacity of 380 pounds.

    This configuration is useful for groceries, picnic equipment, personal belongings, and other everyday cargo.

    The Simple Glide publishes a 350-pound weight capacity and offers a rear hitch system that can be expanded with optional accessories. Buyers can add a cargo basket or passenger-seat system, depending on their needs.

    This modular design is one of the Simple Glide’s strongest features. However, the hitch ball, support structure, basket, and passenger components may need to be purchased separately.

    The M-368X provides a more defined cargo arrangement from the beginning, while the Simple Glide allows buyers to customize the rear of the tricycle through additional components.

    Which Electric Tricycle Is Better?

    The sixthreezero Simple Glide is not a poorly equipped tricycle. It has several meaningful advantages, including a folding frame, armrests, a footrest, quick assembly, fat tires, and a modular hitch system.

    It may be the better option for riders who have limited storage space, regularly transport their tricycle, or strongly prefer an office-chair-style seat.

    However, the Addmotor M-368X offers greater technical depth in the areas that affect long-term riding performance.

    Its larger Samsung battery provides more energy capacity and a higher claimed maximum range. Its motor system includes published peak output, torque, and controller information. Its torque sensor provides more responsive pedal assistance, while its full suspension helps manage rougher surfaces.

    The M-368X also provides three-wheel disc braking, a parking brake, adjustable seating, a sliding footrest, a wider rider-height range, and a clearly defined rear cargo capacity.

    The Simple Glide is the more portable Recumbent ETrike. The Addmotor M-368X is the more complete Electric Tricycle for riders who prioritize range, suspension, adjustability, and everyday performance.

    For short trips and compact storage, the Simple Glide remains a practical choice. For longer rides, varied road surfaces, frequent use, and more advanced ride comfort, the Addmotor M-368X offers better overall value.
